Good News According to John [ a translation from the Greek ] Chapter 17 These things Jesus spoke and having lifted his eyes to heaven, he said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your son that the son might glorify you. You gave him authority over all flesh, so that all which you have given him, he might give them eternal life. "Now this is eternal life, that they might know you, the only true God and Jesus Messiah, whom you did send. I glorified you on the earth, I brought to full development the work which you have given me, that I should do. Now, glorify me together alongside yourself, with the glory which I had with you before the world was. "I revealed your name to those you have given me out of the people. Yours they were and you gave them to me and, your word they have kept. Now, they have known that all things you have given me are of you. For the words you have given me, I have given to them. "And they received and knew truly, that I went out from you. And they believed that you did send me. I am praying about them. I don't pray about all the people, but about those whom you have given me, for they are yours. And all things of mine are yours and yours, mine. And I have glorified in them. "And I am no longer in the world and yet, they themselves are in the world. And I come to you. Holy father, keep them in your name which you have given me, that they may be one as we. When I was with them, I kept them in your name which you have given me. "And I guarded them and none has perished except the son of destruction, that the scripture might be fulfilled. But now to you I am coming. And these things I speak in the world, so that they might have my joy fulfilled in them. "I have given them your word and people hated them, because they are not of the world system, even as I am not of the world system. I don't ask that you should take them out of the world, but that you should keep them from evil. They aren't of the world system as I am not of the world system. "Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent them into the world, I also sent them into the world. And I sanctify myself for them, that they also may be sanctified in truth. Now, I don't only ask for these, but also for those who through their word will believe in me, that all might be one. "As you father are in me and I in you, that they also might be one in us, that the people might believe that you sent me. And the glory which you have given me, I have given them, so that they might be one as we are one. "I in them and you in me, that they might be brought to full development in unity, so that the people might know that you sent me and loved them, even as you loved me. "Father, whom you have given me, I desire that where I am they also might be with me; that they might see my glory that you gave me, because you loved me before the foundation of the world. And righteous father, the people didn't know you, but I knew and these knew that you sent me.
