Philosophy Of The Common People

SLAUGHTER OF THE INNOCENTS

One night Isaiah was talking to Jeremiah about the lamentations of
of Ezekiel, when in walked Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos and Obadiah. . .

Perhaps the single strangest fact of the confused record of our history

Is that the sundry and perverse religions claiming their fine name

Are not at all what the so-called founders intended as their legacy

Siddartha was hardly a Buddhist, nor Lao-Tzu either Taoist or Jain

As far as the East is from the West, so is Jesus from Christianity

And Moses would view modern Judaism with a scowl of utter disdain

In that testament now known as new, it is undoubtedly historically true

That Black Kettle and his friends of peace share a lot more in common

Than all of the preachers and popes of Christianity’s sordid motley crew

With the apostles of poverty and their disdain for capitalism’s mammon

And thus we’ve murdered the true prophets and twisted their brave song of peace

Into a mockery of stain-glass deception which possesses no positive advantage

And we’ve slaughtered all of the innocents in religion’s narrow vise of no release

Calling evil good and good evil while branding The Everywhere Spirit’s children
         savage

. . .One night Isaiah was talking to Jeremiah about the lamentations
of Ezekiel, when in walked Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos and Obadiah
